Back to school transition tips
Your children may be dreading the first day of school and you may be looking forward to the fall routine, so here are some tips to help.
Prepare for the return to school (e.g., school supply shopping, planning carpool, planning extracurricular activities).
Take care of doctors’ appointments (physicals, dentist, etc.) prior to the return to school when kids’ schedules are more flexible.
Enforce an early bedtime and early wake up time at least two weeks before classes begin to allow bodies’ internal clocks to adjust.
Make time to squeeze in any last weekends at the coast, camping outside, having a BBQ or other summer traditions!
Create a summer scrapbook of memories and involve the kids!
Create a family schedule and calendar to keep track of everyone’s activities.
Create a list of chores for each family member so this is in place before the return to the rat race
Enjoy this transition—expect some adjustments but this is just the next season for all of us!
